This video will explain what the process is and how long it takes to get a California Security Guard Card permit also known as guard registration from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) in California.
Basically it depends on a couple of factors.
First and most important factor is your criminal convictions whether they were sealed, adjudicated, expunged or juvenile records the BSIS will still have to review your application carefully. In general they are looking for offenses which involve violence, threats or weapons related. If this first factor applies to you, expect the process to possibly take anywhere between 60-90 business days or more until you receive your approval or denial.
The second factor is what method was your application submitted to the BSIS. If the California Guard Registration was submitted through US mail it takes about 30-60 for someone without a criminal history. On the other hand it the guardcard application was submitted using the BSIS application website, it take an average of 7-10 business days as of the date of this video for someone with no criminal history.
