Paramilitary forces are those which are headed by defence forces of that country .
In our country defence forces are indian army, navy, airforce. and paramilitary forces are those, which are depended on these parent forces for equipment , leadership and other necessities, they all come under ministry of defence as they are like a part of Defence forces.

In Indian contrast there are only two paramilitary forces. namely-
1.ASSAM RIFLES which comes under indian army and give security to NE region.
2.the other one is INDIAN COAST GUARD which comes under Indian navy

now about the BSF,CRPF,ITBP ,SSB, and CISF- all these are not paramilitary forces, if someone call them paramilitary he is totally wrong , they are specifically called CENTRAL ARMED POLICE FORCES, they come under home ministry and responsible for internal security of our country. they all have their own training centre , equipments etc they are not connected with army except duty sharing. they are headed by IPS officers.
there are total 7 CAPFs which are
1.BSF-responsible for pak , bangla and now Myanmar border too with the internal security of the country
2.CISF-for securing industrial establishments and airports , metros
3.SSB-responsible for Nepal and Bhootan border
4.CRPF-responsible for dealing with internal disturbances
5.ITBP-guarding the Himalayan region , Chinese border
6.RPF- railway protection force
7.SPG-for security of the prime minister and other important people
